Launceston’s largest mass participation sporting event has a new sponsor and new name.
The McGrath Launceston Running Festival is now open for entries in its 15th edition to be staged on Sunday 12th June 2022, with McGrath Launceston confirming their naming rights partnership of the iconic event.
Race Director Richard Welsh said partnering with McGrath was a significant step for the event.
“McGrath Estate Agents are known throughout Australia for leading the way in Real Estate and being new to Tasmania, we’re thrilled to align with their company locally.
“We pride ourselves on being connected strongly to the community and being innovative. By partnering with Josh Hart and the McGrath family, community and innovation will continue to be something people see in the McGrath Launceston Running Festival,” Welsh said.
The event will once again be held on the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend and include a half marathon, 10km, 5km and 1 mile events. Regarded Australia wide as one of the fastest and most prestigious 10km and half marathon events, fast times are likely once again.
“This is an exciting partnership for McGrath and the first of its kind for us in Tasmania. Community involvement is very important to McGrath and very much a part of our culture, McGrath have a strong history of partnering in the athletic space. It was an easy decision to support this iconic event and encourage all participants, families and corporate teams to enjoy the McGrath Launceston Running Festival,’’ McGrath Launceston Principal Josh Hart said.
To celebrate the launch, organisers are calling on people to once again apply for the Brooks Running Rookies program. Successful applicants need to be newcomers to running and will receive a $500 Brooks Running package, as well as receive coaching from Australian Marathon representative and Brooks athlete Josh Harris.
Entries are now open for all events at the 2022 McGrath Launceston Running Festival;
